Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World (TTDW) is set to be a worldwide blockbuster (already surpassing the first movie's box office) with a $150 million budget, following the success of the first movie 'Thor' and Marvel superhero mash-up movie 'Avengers Assemble' . Thor 2 is directed by Alan Taylor, who has also directed some episodes of successful fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, and is produced by Kevin Feige who has produced many Marvel movies. TTDW stars the main actors from the last movie, including Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd, Christopher Eccleston and Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. Thor will be shown in 2D, 3D and IMAX formats in the 'mainstream/high street' cinema chains such as ODEON, Picturehouse, Vue and Cineworld, but also in other independent cinemas. Different types of camera were used for different types of shots.

Marvel released the first official trailer in April, six months before the release date. They released another trailer in August, during Youtube's 'Geek Week'. Tom Hiddleston attended the San Diego Comic Con dressed as his character, Loki, to promote the new film, and he also attended Disney's D23 expo event with co-stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and producer Kevin Feige. And speaking of Disney, Disneyland is set to have a new Thor attraction, a week before the American release date, next to the Iron Man feature. Well marketed by Marvel. TTDW has been marketed all over the internet and on the street too. Newspapers have written reviews about the movie and some of the cast have recently been in newspaper and magazine interviews, regarding their new movie. And to top it all off, Thor: The Dark World had its world premiere at London's own ODEON Leicester Square on the 22nd October 2013.
